Stefan Pflug: Day 2: American bureaucracy

Hi Guys,

I won't spend too much time telling you about the first day of actual practice. I was sidelined by the medical staff because my medical exam from Denmark was insufficient for Collegial sports. Mikkel and I only just received the correct formulae for the medical Monday morning (the first day of practice). I was... let’s say slightly ignored since they have known that I was coming for 5 months. Basically that meant that I had to go see a doctor at the hospital and pay him 1100 DKKR to perform a 10 minute physical. Oh the lenghts we go to to play football :)

It was really hard to stand on the sideline and watch – especially since we have 25 receivers fighting for only 12 spots. Every repetition counts. The only good thing about it was that I was able to access the competition. Compared to the other freshmen, I am bigger and definitely stronger than most. However I am lacking their speed. Many of them have exceptional footwork.

At the end of the day the entire team meets up to evaluate the practice and install new formations and plays. You would never be able to make it through this without studying your playbook, so a couple of the receivers have set up a study group at night. I know where I'll be.
